Li Shaohong’s film tells
a harrowing story of love and betrayal - the story of a young Chinese woman
whose new life in the big city turns sour rather quickly. This film
has been lauded by critics and audiences all over the world, and even received
the Founder’s Award for Best Narrative Feature at last year’s Tribeca Film
Festival. Gathering ‘Audience Favorite’ awards, it is no surprise
that the film has attracted the notice of the international film community,
but more recently, it has been capturing the attention of young people
around the United States, as part of the Global Film Initiative and Global
Lens 2006 Education Program.
